Susan Mitchell was the oldest friend that I remained in contact with- since 2nd grade at Christ the King. We attended all of each others birthday parties - she always had the big crinoline slip under her fancy party dress. Her mom totally mortified her at her parties by forcing her to play piano...which Susan would nervously execute as quickly as possible.

She always had a slightly sarcastic, wonderful sense of humor that she would blurt out - then always followed by a giggle and a hand over the mouth and a "maybe I shouldn't've said that"... She was always ready to be involved in a good cause -was extremely thoughtful and caring to friends.... and even remote friends. She had wonderful crazy ideas that we loved to brainstorm about. I wish I had seen more of her, she was a dear one and I miss her.

I can't bring myself to delete her last email to me...so I will post some of it here - this is response to me when I asked her about her illness ( Lou Gehrig's Disease, I believe it was)

"...My "thing" I don't want to spend too much time elaborating on...... except to say at this point I am loosing my muscles. ...it is very tough going ...BUT when I can remember that I am spiritual and not this ragged body...I am God's perfect idea......God wouldn't have any of this for me.....I have to remember who I really am (and not dwell on the things - like the ailment...sometimes ...not an easy task) and keep my focus on the Truth when my body is being ravaged by big lies. It is always healing to put my mind on God! I also do a form of qigong called Chi Lel that is very helpful!
Anyway, take good care.
much love, Susanne"
